The BMW R 1300 GS is here! Well, nearly…

The BMW R 1300 GS from BMW Motorrad is here – well nearly! Thanks to some “leaked” images, we’re all getting a sneak preview of this highly anticipated adventure bike and, naturally, we have some questions…

1. Will the new BMW R 1300 GS have cornering lights?

Are those cornering lights we see BMW? Because from where we’re standing the new headlight, especially the angles of the X, are screaming for this bike to be opened up on a dark and twisty country lane.

2. Will the new BMW R 1300 GS have Active Cruise Control?

Looking at the same picture, we can speculate with certainty that the new R 1300 GS will have Active Cruise Control – adapting to the speed of the traffic in front of it. This addition to will certainly make for some easy road-tripping (especially in traffic).

3. Will the new R 1300 GS have DRL and Turn Signals on the hand protectors?

Here we can clearly see traditional turn signals with what can only be described as blanks in the hand protectors.

Here traditional turn signals seem to be absent and we can see what seem to be DRL’s in the hand protectors and the absence of traditional turn signals leads us to believe that these lights in the hand protectors will be DRL and Turn signals.

We eagerly await a detailed chat in the comments led by the man responsible for this design, Alexander Buckan. For now, at least, it seems the biking community will need to fight this out amongst ourselves in forums and online as we continue to speculate exactly what it is that we are seeing ahead of the official launch on 28 September 2023 whilst giving thanks to the biking gods who threw us these morsels of leaked manna…
